Lettuce is a leaf vegetable often grown as a leaf vegetable, but sometimes for its stem and seeds. Lettuce is most often used for salads, although it is also seen in other kinds of food, such as soups, sandwiches and wraps; it can also be grilled.
- Soil: Well-drained, loamy soil
- Water: Regular watering, keep soil moist

Planting Instructions: Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep in well-drained soil. Space rows 12 to 18 inches apart. Thin to 12 inches apart when seedlings are 2 inches tall.
Harvest Instructions: Harvest individual leaves as needed or the entire plant when it is mature and full sized. Harvest in the morning for best flavor.
